Vocals, acoustic guitar and beautiful songs
Vocal lessons and workshops

Welcome to the English page on my website

Yes, it's a bit smaller than the Dutch website... that's because I'm Dutch and my activities are located in The Netherlands anyway. If there's any change: I will let you know!
Hopefully this page gives you just enough information, and besides, there's always Myspace

NEWS

Oktober 2011
Watch this video from Second Harvest playing at the 'Tribute Day' where 15 bands all played their version of the same 50 yrs old hitsong...

September 2011

We're online: www.secondharvest.nl :-) it's in Dutch but you can look at some nice rural-style photo's (oh yeehawnes!), listen to our demo's on youtube, click on links of other dutch websites you can't read, or for the real Second Harvest experience travel to The Netherlands and attend a gig... (let us know if you need a place to sleep)

June 2011
As I said the last time: most of the time I forget to put some newsflashes on the English site. But it's about Dutch things anyway: I suppose you're not coming to one of my vocalworkshops in Tilburg...
Anyway: there's news with a photograph, that's reason enough to post something! Second Harvest, the acoustic Neil Young coverband, is getting more serious (since I've joined them? ;-)). We made a demo, and did some try-out gigs. One of them on a nice real-estate in the neighbourhood, we are truly sorry for damaging one square meter of cornfield and we promise we won't do it again...

January 2011
I don't pay that much attention to this english page, that's right, sorry... About time to post a new message: currently I'm working on some new products for my acoustic duo Cotton Rose (covers, for receptions and weddings etc), among wich: building a new website on funeralmusic, work on repertoire, promotion, etc.
I've also updated my website on vocal workshops and trying to do some promotion for that: besides workshops on the local musicschool, I also want to do more vocal workshops for companies, friends' clubs, etc. Singing together is fun and great for teambuilding!
Also trying to put some poems on music, the writer has a presentation in a few weeks during a cultural evening in our hometown, and we're going to perform our new songs :-)
And: nice musical evenings around someones kitchentable lately, rehearsing with acoustic trio (quartet now, including moi) 'Second Harvest' who play and sing mostly Neil Young songs. Depending on the mood and the amount of Belgian 'triple' beers they might try some Beegees or Abba later on, or some occasional Roy Orbison. But anyway: great harmonyvocals and great fun singing along with these guys.

November 2010
Doing just a few gigs, a few workshops, some promotion and networking, and enjoying my free time. I needed to step back and re-direct: get myself together and build up new energy, develop new vision, and search for a new creative direction. The winter is a good season for that!

September 2010
Summerholidays are over, unfortunately. A new season with new projects and possibilities, among wich: 'Nobody', a dance production by Lucie Perusova (CZ). I will be singing in a totally different way than usual, and Karla Shacklock (GB) dances enchanting and powerfull in this dark piece about a sad, cruel and hopeless world in wich two different women tell their stories. The premiere of this piece will be on October 2nd, in Theater De Nwe Vorst, Tilburg (NL).

July 2010
some nice pics from me :-) taken during the show on June 21st (by Mariska Chardet).

June 2010
At the moment I am writing songs and music for in a play that will be performed on June 21st in the City Theatre of Tilburg. The writer Cheta Urmila was asked by Tilburg's 'Nightmayor' (ambassador of Arts and Music in the city) as one of the 'moonscouts' (= a woman who has something special to say to the people of Tilburg, for a period of a month in between two full moons). She always wanted to write a play so here's her chanche ;-) And I have never written songs for in a play, so it's exiting for both of us!

Short Biography

I started writing songs somewhere halfway the nineties, after playing bassguitar in a local rockband and discovering this hole in my face was not just for eating and speaking, and after overcoming my shyness to admit I liked what I heard (...). So I called myself a 'singer-songwriter' and the songs brought me to various venues in The Netherlands, and abroad (like Greenbelt Fest, GB). In 1998 I did a short tour (Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands) and released my first mini album (ind.). From 1999 untill 2004 I attended the brand new "Rock Academy" in Tilburg, which brought about a big change in both my musical and personal life. Meanwhile I played with my band The Disposable Souls and a couple of other nice projects. After that it became a bit silent here for a few years but meanwhile I started working as a vocal teacher.
At the moment (2010) I still work as a vocal coach (private lessons and groupworkshops), I sing and play guitar in an acoustic duo (entertaiment), sing and play percussion in the acousic Neil Young coverband Second Harvest, do some backingvocals on demand, put someone's poems on music, etc. And I actually try writing some new songs every now and then!

Quotes from earlier reviews

"...strong timing and a good voice... convincing, and a very good English pronounciation…" (Bottomline)
"...flexible as a rubberband, clear as water..." (Popcall)
"...beautiful, warm voice that definitely shows talent..." (Fret)
"...I seldom saw a singer being so herself on stage..." (Fer Abrahams)
